The Willowwood storefront is a joint
effort between the Northwest Community League, Inc. and
the Harris County Sheriff's Department. It is based on
the concept of community oriented policing. It allows
the deputies and the community to work closely together
to accomplish the common goal of a safer community for
everyone.
Storefront Objectives
- To provide a workstation to be utilized by deputies
in the course of their duties
- To solicit support from the communities and exchange
ideas relating to crime problems
- The Storefront is to signify that the police are
a part of the community.
- To provide a meeting location for law enforcement
Task Forces and general Roll Calls
Storefront Deputy Objectives
- Establish and promote a working relationship with
the surrounding businesses and residents
- Provide a convenient location for community meetings
and provide professional support for such meetings
when required.
- Assist with any crime prevention request such as
speaking engagements, residential & business inspections,
general security information, literature regarding
crime prevention
- Make offense reports and accident reports available
to the public
- Take reports by telephone for minor incidents
- Support, assist, and advise the community regarding
crime problems
- Meet with the community, analyze potential problems
and attempt to solve them.

The majority of the Storefront's daily operating expenses
are funded by private donations from the community. The Storefront
has numerous programs and services available to the public.

Kids
- Kids Orientation of Police Services (K.O.P.S.)
- Home Inspections - Deputies due an inspection on the security
of your home. Homes that pass inspection can save up to
20% on homeowners insurance premiums
- Crime Prevention -Deputies discuss Personal Safety, Safety
in the home and workplace, Travel Safety, and Safety for
Senior Citizens
- Operation I.D. - Deputies will come to your home and engrave
your driver's license number on your property items. This
helps facilitate the return of your property in the event
it is stolen and subsequently recovered.
- Child Fingerprinting - Deputies will fingerprint your
child so you can keep a record of their fingerprints in
teh event they become missing.
- Safety Talks - Deputies will discuss anumber of topics
with your child such as: Staying in school, Stranger Danger,
9-1-1, Eddie Eagle Gun Safety, McGruff, anti-drug &
anti-gang messages, as well as many others. They also have
Safety Talks geared toward adults such as watching for con
games, travel safety, and tips for the elderly as well as
others.
- Mentoring - Deputies give one-on-one interaction with
a child that may be in need of a role model
- National Night Out Activities
- Junior Achievment - Deputies go to local schools one day
a week for 6 weeks and teach students in grades K-12 about
economics and money.
- Boy Scout/Girl Scout tours - Deputies give the scouts
tours of the Sheriff's facilities to help them earn merit
badge
