It is important to bring a photograph of the missing person to a TRAK equipped Substation so a TRAK flyer can be made and electronically distributed throughout the Harris County area.

The Patrol unit will obtain a signed medical/dental information release. It is important to have a photograph of the missing Juvenile so the Deputy can have a TRAK flyer prepared.

Houston Regional Amber Plan was first started in Harris County on December 7, 2000. The first alert was December 15, 2000.

TRAK, Technology to Recover Abducted Kids, is a computer software system that was originally designed to help law enforcement agencies locate and recover abducted children. It has since been used in countless types of cases, assisting law enforcement in the process of communicating important visual information. This system allows any police officer to quickly and efficiently create high-resolution photo bulletins and share them electronically with other law enforcement jurisdictions, the media, and the community, when they deem it appropriate.

Six (6) TRAK systems and software were donated in March 1998 by the 100 Club.

There is NO 24-hour waiting period required to report a person as missing.

For Runaways Juveniles see the Runaway Investigative Unit web site.
