Detective
Bureau
The Detective Bureau is responsible
for the investigation of criminal offenses committed in
our jurisdiction. Reflecting the increasingly complex nature
of contemporary police work, the bureau has grown more specialized
in recent years.
Once appointed, the new detective
will be assigned to one of the Detective Bureau divisions.
The Detectives Bureau consists of the following divisions:
Investigators from the Detective
Bureaus are also assigned to several multi-agency task forces,
such as:
- High Intensity Drug Trafficking
Area (HIDTA)
- Gulf Coast Violent Offenders
Task Force
- Bank Robbery Task Force.
- FBI's Cyber Crimes Task Force
- Social Security Administration Disability Fraud Investigations
- Secret Service Fraud Investigations Unit
Newly established through
grant funding, the Sex Crimes Offender Registration (SCOR)
Unit monitors sex offenders for compliance with statutorily
required registration procedures, publishes sex offender
notices, and take appropriate enforcement action, including
the filing of criminal charges, for failure to comply.
