Cypress Man Arrested After Crashing BMW

On November 24, 2008, Harris County Sheriff’s Sergeant G.A. Rodgers was traveling in the 28000 block of U.S. 290 when he observed the driver of a black BMW traveling at approximately 80 mph in a posted 50 mph zone. Sgt. Rodgers activated his emergency lights and siren on his patrol car in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver disregarded the sergeants attempt to stop him and increased his speed to approximately 100 mph on the service road and then increased his speed to approximately to 127 mph as he entered the main lanes of Hwy 290. The driver of the BMW exited Becker Road and attempted to make a u-turn under the overpass. He lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a support pillar. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Danny Bennett of Cypress, was not injured and was taken into custody. Bennett was arrested and charged with Felony Evading Arrest. He is currently held in the Harris County Jail on a No Bond awaiting his next court appearance.
