Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a suspect who fled on foot after seeing deputies on patrol.
Around 11p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2009, Deputy Laird and Deputy Craig were patrolling along Imperial Valley when a pedestrian illegally crossed the street in front of their patrol car. Deputy Laird shone a spotlight on the man who looked directly at the deputies and began running. He ran towards the nearby Cinnamon Square Apartments.
The deputies followed the man into the complex where a foot chase ensued. Deputy Laird ordered the man to stop. The man looked back over his shoulder and continued to run but was quickly apprehended as he tried to enter a pedestrian gate in the complex.
The man was identified as 20-year-old Jeremy Morgan. Two Vicodin pills were located in his pocket. Mr. Morgan had no prescription for the pills. He was arrested and charged with evading and possession of a controlled substance. A judge sentenced Mr. Morgan to 25 days in the Harris County Jail. His driver’s license was suspended for one year.
