On October 2, 2009, Harris County Sheriff Deputy F. McGregor responded to a call regarding a possible intoxicated driver in the parking lot of the Pam Lynchner State Jail in Atascocita. Staff at the jail encountered a suspicious red Chevy Avalanche driving around the jail parking lot. The driver, identified as 51-year-old Donald Crawford, claimed he had gotten lost due to heavy rain. Mr. Crawford had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and his vehicle had front-end damage. Mr. Crawford explained that he hit a telephone pole in an attempt to turn around but could not confirm where it happened. A breath sample obtained from Mr. Crawford confirmed a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. Mr. Crawford was charged and arrested for DWI. He is out of jail on a $500 bond.
