On September 26, 2009, Deputy M. Carlile was dispatched to a disturbance at the Discount Tire at 2907 West F.M. 1960. Upon his arrival he observed a man near the front door arguing with someone. The store manager informed the deputy that the man was being disruptive towards customers. While Deputy Carlile was questioning the suspect, identified as Johnny Byrd, 27, he noticed Byrd had slurred speech and was unable to keep his balance. Deputy Carlile also noticed a glass pipe sticking out of Byrd’s pocket. Deputy Carlile searched Byrd and found a clear plastic bag with a white powdery substance on his person. Both the pipe and powdery substance tested positive for cocaine. Johnny Byrd was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. He pled guilty to the charge and was sentenced to six months in the State Jail.
