On September 22, 2009, Deputy S. Simpson responded to a disturbance at the Kroger located at 360 West F.M. 1960. Upon his arrival he found two adult males seated on the curb; they had been detained by an off duty Houston Police Officer. Witnesses stated the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Eugene Shelton, struck the complainant with a tire iron. The complainant then placed Shelton in a headlock until the HPD officer stepped in to help. Shelton was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He is currently held in the Harris County Jail in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
